Born in Boston in 1861 of New England Quakers, Alice Park's activism grew from her concerns for woman's suffrage, humane education and peace. She travelled and lectured extensively on these topics, and represented the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom on the Henry Ford Peace Ship, 1915-1916.
